WHITE MOTH BLACK BUTTERFLY

And now for something completely different....

I'm betting some of you have heard the name Daniel Tompkins before. Well... if it doesn't ring any bells, here's why it should. Mr. Tompkins was the singer for TesseracT's debut masterpiece "One". Since then he has left that band to indulge in a number of powerhouse musical projects. First off you have Skyharbor. If you haven't heard of this band, do yourself a favor and click here. Next up is the incredible easy listening project Absent Hearts (listen here). Third is his new full-time band In Colour, formed alongside ex-SikTh guitarist Dan Weller (listen here). Lastly, there's Daniel's mind bending solo project White Moth Black Butterfly which we're about to look at. And if he's in any other projects (quite possible), I haven't heard them yet.

White Moth Black Butterfly is the kind of music you rarely get to experience. Pressing play on any of these songs will submerge you in a world of pure atmosphere, aurally pleasing and conceptually huge. The primary focus is in creating unique, flowing, multi-layered soundscapes for fresh ears to traverse. A total of three tracks have been released so far - "Reluctance", "Certainty", and the latest "The World Won't Sleep". All of which are quite the musical trip. If this sounds like a good time to you, I highly recommend you sample the tracks below and grab them on Bandcamp!

DANIEL TOMPKINS SCOUTED BY THE VOICE

Here's somewhat of an assuming story. The singing machine Daniel Tompkins (Skyharbor, In Colour, ex-Tesseract) was recently scouted by American TV talent show The Voice. He turned them down.

I must say American TV "talent shows" are a joke. But I do have some respect for The Voice over say... the gag-worthy American Idol or X-Factor. From my recollection, they have a generally talented panel (No Nick Minaj) and seek out at least some real talent. Whoda thunk?

THE ROOM COLORED CHARLATAN "NEXUS POINT" SINGLE (FEAT. DANIEL TOMPKINS)

The Room Colored Charlatan dropped their new single "Nexus Point" late last week. Getting new music from this band is awesome enough in itself. But what makes it even better is that the legend Daniel Tompkins (ex-Tesseract, Skyharbor, In Colour) makes a cameo on the track. This makes for a talented crossover of epic proportions. Amazing material.

THE ROOM COLORED CHARLATAN (FEAT. DANIEL TOMPKINS)

Hoooly shit. Big time move by our friends in The Room Colored Charlatan. They will be releasing a new single March 1st entitled "Nexus Point" through Subliminal Groove Records. That sounds awesome enough, but they went ahead and sweetened the deal. "Nexus Point" will feature the golden pipes of Daniel Tompkins (ex-Tesseract, Skyharbor, In Colour, etc). Should be an amazing combination! They've already released the artwork and we're counting down the days.

This will be the band's first release since the impressive debut "Between Mirrors: The Quantum Immortality" late last year. Read our review right here. And rumor has it, they have more music in the works. Stay tuned. In the mean time you can enjoy the full album stream of "Between Mirrors" below.
