EUROBLAST FESTIVAL 2013 - THE LINE UP SO FAR

Cologne's Euroblast Festival doesn't need an introduction for many of you, so I'll put it this way... One of Europe's most mind-blowing metal festivals will unleash all of its energy on the crowd from the 11th til the 13th of October. It seems like this forthcoming ninth edition is going to be another blast!

In fact, the guys at the Euroblast Collective have announced a good portion of this year's line up and two of the headliners. Textures will be performing their only German show of 2013 here. The second headliner is Germany's very own The Ocean. The rest of the unveiled line up is stacked as well, making this an unmissable event. Euroblast 2013 will feature international names like Threat Signal, The Agonist, Twelve Foot Ninja, Arsis, Hacride, Benea Reach, Mnemic, Feared, Xerath, Lifeforms, Aliases, Humanity's Last Breath, Syqem, The Omega Experiment, Deathember, Der Weg Einer Freheit, Dawn Heist, Hord,  Overdown, Pomegranate Tiger, Tardive Dyskinesia, Cyclamen, Kartikeya, Heights, and Third Ear.

Last year's line up featured more than 40 bands. This year is currently at 28. So the only thing you need to do is stay tuned for the announcement of the third headliner / rest of the line up, coming very soon. If you live in Europe, you should definitely start thinking about buying tickets. This is the kind of event you don't want to miss!

ALIASES NEW “EXASPERATED” MUSIC VIDEO

Manchester mathcore heavyweights Aliases are finally coming back! After their stunning 2011 debut “Safer Than Reality” (brought to you by Basick Records with some sexy artwork!), the band had several problems in finding a new vocalist.

Problems be gone! Aliases just released a new music video showcasing the talent of Joe Rosser, their new official singer. Joe will be joining forces with the instrumental madness delivered by Graham 'Pin' Pinney (former SikTh guitarist) and the super-talented Leah Woodward (read up on her here) in the Aliases forthcoming debut full-length album! His crazy harsh vocals and perfect cleans fit amazingly well with the band's style. This new song will give you a big reason to anticipate the new release!

In the meantime, don't forget to check out Aliases at this summer's UK Tech-Metal Fest if you're around Europe. Also don't forget to give “Exasperated” a listen below!

WOMEN WHO MOSH WEDNESDAY - LEAH WOODWARD OF ALIASES

In the world of mainstream, radio ready rock music today, it's not easy to find many female musicians with a heavy edge. Meet Leah Woodward of UK based band Aliases. While not on the airwaves, Aliases is one of those bands that should be especially here in the states. Like I've said before, I love finding bands with female members. They inspire me.

Anyways, Woodward can shred on her guitar effortlessly. Like last week's musician Sarah Longfield, Woodward has a presence on the guitar. You can see it on her face in the music video for "What's Left For Us?" that she has a crazy passion for the music she plays.

Kick ass female in the group aside, Aliases is a solid band. Ex-SikTh guitarist Pin, bassist Joe Heaton, and drummer Darren Pugh deliver in your face instrumentals that make you want to move. However, the band is currently without a vocalist (want to audition?).

Aliases are currently writing new jams so be on the lookout. Also, they're playing at UK Tech Fest this year! \m/

UK Tech Fest is expanding their operation aggressively this year. There's yet another auxiliary date before the main event. After recently announcing the two day UK Tech Fest London, they have returned with UK Tech Fest Manchester! It will take place on April 27th at Dry Live in Manchester. The line-up is even more stacked than the London event including Aliases and The Algorithm as headliners and several bands such as Red Seas Fire, Nexilva, and Orion in support. Check out music from all the mentioned bands below and also take a look at the flyer if you want to go. UK Tech Fest never fails to put on a good show and from what we've heard, the main event this summer will be MASSIVE. Get ready for that!

ALIASES INTRODUCE NEW VOCALIST

Last year, UK tech-metal group Aliases took the metal underground by storm, bringing back ex-Sikth guitarist, Graham Pinney with the release of the band's intense EP "Safer Than Reality". A few months ago, while writing their first full length, Aliases announced that they would be parting ways with vocalist Jay Berast. Ever since they have been searching for a replacement and that search has finally come to an end.

Leigh Dale is the man, and he's already recording vocals for the band's debut full length. Aliases put out a teaser featuring Leigh and some new tunes. Check it out along with the video for "What's Left For Us?" from the "Safer Than Reality" EP.
