Deathgrind titans Cattle Decapitation released one of the best albums of last year in case you’ve forgotten. “Monolith of Inhumanity” was an absolutely crushing offering that managed to crush all other contemporary’s releases in its path and even include some emotional depth.
Cattle Decapitation caused quite a stir with the release of their first music video for track "Forced Gender Reassignment." This extremely NSFW video, which I haven’t even bothered to link here, got the promotional wheels stirring quite fast. People couldn’t stop talking about the ridiculous new Cattle Decapitation video. The next video for "Kingdom of Tyrants" was stunning and is truly a work of art.
And now they guys have released a video for another great piece of their album, the song "Your Disposal." This video is based upon the concept of Adam and Eve but approaches it a grotesque fashion. This video isn’t NSFW but it’s still pretty grimy as is standard Cattle Decapitation stuff. I’d suggest you check this one out.
The newest and most ridiculous collaboration I’ve read about in a very, very long time just surfaced. Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann and Fulgora bassist John Jarvis have announced that they will be completing their own version of the famous tune, “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall”. This is a hilarious idea, but it’s so awesome that I can’t help but laugh out loud, seriously.
The best part of this is that the song will feature 99 guest musicians from basically the hall of fame of death and grind. A musician, or maybe more from each of the following bands has been confirmed as participating on the song: Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Devourment, Misery Index, Fulgora, Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy, Cerebral Bore, Decrepit Birth, Unmerciful, Putrid Pile, Insidious Decrepancy, Cephalic Carnage, and Murder Construct. And that’s just a partial list. Overall, members from 99 bands will appear on this tune. Talk about crazy!
If you wanna get your hands on this song, and I know you do, it should be available at the end of the summer. The guys have been compiling tracks for a while and need to put the fully furnished song together. The intention is to release the song as a bonus track on the new Houndz EP, titled “Boozehoundz.” This band is Derek Engemann’s, from Cattle Decapitation, side project, that seems to be as hilarious as this new song idea, so it’s a perfect fit. Check out Houndz new comedic video below if you’re interested and stay tuned for more details on this massive collaboration.
The line up for Summer Slaughter was recently announced and GOD DAMN this year is going to be huge! This grouping of bands is probably not what people were expecting. There's much more of a focus on variety rather than Death Metal which has its ups and downs. But Summer Slaughter is an extreme metal tour, not purely Death Metal.
The headliner this year will be The Dillinger Escape Plan! The supporting acts include Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, The Ocean, Revocation, and Aeon.
If that doesn't sound great enough, you also get to vote for the opening act! There's a poll of 18 bands that you can find on the official Summer Slaughter Facebook page. So far it's looking heavy with Rings of Saturn and Australia's Thy Art Is Murder in the lead (UPDATE - Both Rings of Saturn and Thy Art Is Murder will be on the tour).
Check out the flyer along with some music down below! We'll see you in the pit.
