"The Animated Tales of Gwar"... Yes, it's a real thing that just premiered on Funny or Die. The famed blood spraying metal band is now changing cartoons to gwartoons with the help of animators Myke Chillian and Tommy Meehan. Weird Al Yankovic even makes a cameo!

GWAR FOR THE SUPER BOWL!

Here's a worthy cause. Are you tired of the absolute bullshit, cringe-worthy halftime performances at the Super Bowl every single year? For what's supposed to be a manly sport, they sure have a way with picking the most un-manly musical artists to perform. I still have nightmares from The Black Eyed Peas attempting to entertain in 2011. Madonna and Beyonce didn't exactly pick up the slack...

This is where metal comes in... There's a petition for none other than GWAR to play the Super Bowl. Sign that call for greatness right here. Will it happen? Doubt it. But if it did, consider my jaw to be one with the ground. A GWAR halftime show would be the BEST halftime show in sports history period.

SOUTH BY SO WHAT?! LINEUP

Every year thousands of people migrate to Texas for music and festivities at South By So What?! This year's lineup (so far) has been advertised via flyers at Mayhem Festival and Warped Tour and segments of the festival's official pages. There seems to be a good mix of bands coming out. Check 'em below.

This year's second edition of the festival will take place at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX on October 25th-26th. Should be ridiculously fun.

THROWBACK THURSDAY - GWAR

Decided to take a detour this Thursday with a band that is funny and controversial alike. GWAR are well known for their thrashy, punk infused sound and comedic, blood soaked approach. Posing as horror / sci-fi creatures from another plaent intent on conquering humanity, they pulverize eardrums with rolling heaviness and raunchy lyrics to sing along with.

These guys could easily fall under the category of shock rock with their outlandish themes and legendary, gory live performances. Actually it's largely thanks to the live shows that GWAR are where they are now. Including everything from geysers of fake blood to fire dancing rituals and beyond, they provide some good fun. No matter what day you catch them on, it's quite the spectacle

GWAR have been going strong ever since 1984. They've officially released a total of twelve studio albums over the years and don't seem to be intent on slowing their roll anytime soon. More power to them! And more blood soaked shows to go!
