JOEY JORDISON REVEALS NEW BAND NAME

Joey Jordison, best known as the drummer for the band Slipknot is filling the void, created by the lack of new Slipknot music, left in fans hearts by creating a new band. And he recently unveiled the title of the project. The new band will be called Scar the Martyr. An album is due out sometime this fall and will be released on Roadrunner Records.

Though it appears as all the music was written by Jordison himself, Scar the Martyr still boasts an impressive lineup. Former Strapping Young Lad guitarist Jed Simon, former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris, former Nine Inch Nails/Marilyn Manson keyboardist Chris Vrenna, and unknown vocalist Henry Derek round out the rest of the lineup. It looks like this band may very be a lasting project considering the recruitment of a full lineup. Also Joey looks to be staying behind the kit, where he is most comfortable.

The band has released one studio video so far. Take a look here. Aside from the bluesy guitar solos, clean vocals, and the couple of fairly hard rockish, it’s difficult to determine what this band is gonna sound like. Included in the video, and seen in plenty of pictures, are shots of the guys playing 8 string guitars. So that’s kinda interesting. I wonder to what effect these will be used. Overall, this is fairly interested and I’ll probably check it out when there is finally some music to be heard.
