PROTEST THE HERO ANNOUNCE NEW DRUMMER

After parting ways with drummer Moe Carlson and recording their latest record with Lamb of God's Chris Adler, there has been yet another development on Protest The Hero's percussion front. The band has officially taken on Mike Ieradi of The Kindred (previously known as Today I Caught The Plague) as a full-time member of the band.

You can read statements below from both the band and Mike Ieradi pertaining to the line-up change. The Kindred have yet to officially comment though Mike will remain a part of that band for now, playing two sets on their upcoming tour with Protest The Hero.

“Finding a new drummer has proven to be a tough task! We had interest and video submissions from many friends, fans, and family alike (yes, Choadie’s mom sent in a video of her ripping “c’est la vie!”). Every single one of those submissions was wonderful – but we realized it was going to be impossible to select a drummer based on a youtube video. We needed someone who we knew. Someone who we thought we wouldn’t want to murder and leave at the side of the road two weeks into tour. We think we have found that person in Mike Ieradi – a Canadian fella we met many moons ago. (his life depends on this working out…)

What’s that you say? Mike is already in another band? Yes, he is. He will be playing in 2 bands on this upcoming tour. He will be opening with his band The Kindred and will then wrap the night up playing with us. Despite pulling double duty on this tour, he IS the newest member of pth and will hopefully be with us until we hang up the old jazz picks. No pressure Mike!

When we asked Mike to write up a blurb about this, he gave us attitude and two fingers in the air. This is a good sign for him fitting in with us guys.

After heavy editing, it sounded something like this:

“Hey everyone! Mike Ieradi here, and happy to announce my new role in Protest the Hero. I’m excited to be a full blown member of a great band with some great friends, and looking forward to the future with these gorgeous hunks. Stoked to see everyone out on this upcoming tour, and I hope you enjoy watching me sweat my way through two sets with Protest and The Kindred. It should be a fun one!”

THE KINDRED (TODAY I CAUGHT THE PLAGUE) SIGN WITH SUMERIAN RECORDS

The Kindred (aka Today I Caught The Plague) just inked a deal with the legendary Sumerian Records. Not too shabby. The Ontario band plans to have their debut (or is it?) out this Fall with the help of John Paul Peters (also responsible for Comeback Kid, Propaghandi, and Jesus). They just dropped the first single "Decades" as a taste of what's to come. Check it below along with vocalist David Journeaux's statement on the signing. Also may have included a Today I Caught The Plague track or two...

“I remember when we were writing material for our independent full-length, LORE, having multiple conversations about Sumerian Records as a label, and how well they seemed to work with their bands. Those conversations always ended with some variation of the statement ‘it would be great if we could get ourselves onto their roster’. Knowing this, you can imagine how we felt when we first heard from the label.

From that initial correspondence forward, we only had the best experiences in dealing with the people at Sumerian and we’re quite excited to move forward with everything that’s to come. As a group, we’ve always been really proud of what we’ve been able to achieve for ourselves, but now, with the support of an entity like Sumerian, we seem to be closer and closer to realizing some of the bigger goals that we’ve always had for ourselves.”
