CROSSING THE EVENT HORIZON LINE-UP COMPLETED / FUNDING NEW ALBUM (FREE MUSIC INCLUDED)

Enjoy psychedelic music? You're going to enjoy Crossing The Event Horizon. They've more or less perfected the psychedelic approach... and they've barely even started. Propelled deep into the void by super talented guitarists Joe Vanderhoff and Patrick Phillips along with beastly fretless bass player Sagar Nadgir, this band constructs a brand of creative psychonaut progressive metal like you've never heard before. The music is mind blowing and original. No metal band has ever broken into the other side quite like this.

There have been some major developments in the CTEH camp of late. I'll let the artists themselves explain...

Hello friends! Announcement time! We have a new line-up.

Patrick Phillips - Guitars/Vocals
Joe Vanderhoff - Guitars/Vocals
Khaled Hijaab - Bass
Chevance Smith - Drums
Mac Book - Synths

We've been working on getting the songs down and acquiring the necessary equipment for everything to sound as good as possible, both for our forthcoming album and our live shows. The support and encouragement we've received over the years in the online world gives us hope that we will be able to take the band to the next level now that we have a drummer. The time that this will take is largely dependent on our ability to pay for what we need.

We've made a GoFundMe page at (http://www.gofundme.com/ctehalbum) so that if our music has affected you in a positive way, you can help us continue to grow and be able to give you much more in the future. We will take note of anyone who donates and they will receive something in return…not sure what yet but we'll figure it out as things progress! See you soon.

BANDS TO WATCH OUT FOR - CARCINOMIC

Carcinomic is a top notch Death Metal band with Progressive and Black Metal influences. More than that, this project is the brainchild of Sagar Nadgir, the fretless bass player from the psychedelic metal kings, Crossing The Event Horizon. Sagar's also a Microbiologist which plays into the theme of Carcinomic's music, primarily biology / disease themed Death Metal. Great stuff \m/

He recently released the instrumental version of his album "Opus", which is actually still in the works. But it's sounding very awesome, even at this stage. It's very creative and undpredictable music. It will catch you off guard and strike in ways you won't expect. Definitely a worthy listen. And you can actually stream the whole thing down below! And if you enjoy be on the lookout. Sagar has more up his sleeve!

While talking to Sagar, he had this to say about the album, "Here's an album that's been in the works for 5-6 years now under my brainchild, Carcinomic. Thematically speaking Opus is a story about the human relationships with nature and surroundings from a biologist's perspective. The music kind of has a flow from being noisy and discordant, to a more melodic side of my work, implying the story has an exploration of present state, collapse from a natural or manmade disaster, a genetic bottleneck for a potentially new species, how it will affect new beings, and finally the melodic yet indecisive/open ended look at the future. I'm also asking the questions pertaining to where we as the human race would stand; would our genetic code be so different, how does religion and spirituality play into it, etc. typical hippie shit, but with science behind it at least..."

CROSSING THE EVENT HORIZON IS A MUST LISTEN (FREE MUSIC!)

When it comes to psychedelic metal, Crossing The Even Horizon is nothing short of perfection... and they've barely even started. Propelled deep into the void by super talented guitarists Joe Vanderhoff and Patrick Phillips along with beastly fretless bass player Sagar Nadgir, this band constructs a brand of creative psychonaut progressive metal like you've never heard before. The music is mind blowing and original, making it a must listen. The only other project that comes close to the sound CTEH brings is Exivious (Textures / Cynic side project), and even that's a stretch. No metal band has ever broken into the other side quite like this.

Crossing The Event Horizon recently released five of their incredible demo tracks for FREE! Take a listen below and grab them all on Bandcamp! And if you want more, check out Soundcloud and Soundclick. Rumor has it the band will be working on lots of brand new music very soon. The new material will be recorded with superior equipment and further enlightened minds. Definitely something to look forward to. There's no telling where this band will go, but you'll want to be along for the trip. Stay tuned.

Here's a recent update from Joe Vanderhoff himself (11/13/12): "We have lots of exciting news for you guys! Patrick is currently on a plane to Peru, where he will be until the end of February. In the meantime, I'm finishing up my degrees in philosophy and religious studies, and once I graduate in December I will begin working on recording lots of new material for you guys! I'm currently in the process of building a kickass home studio to achieve the best recordings possible for our musical endeavors. Within the next few months I will be purchasing an Axe Fx II by Fractal Audio as well as lots of new guitars, amps, Logic Pro 9, Omnisphere, awesome studio monitors, and lots of other creative toys. Thank you all for your support and patience!"

CROSSING THE EVENT HORIZON - THE OTHER SIDE

Since leaving Mind's I, guitarists Patrick Philips and Joe Vanderhoff, along with bassist Sagar Nadgir have been creating fresh, psychedelic, atmospheric style progressive music in Crossing The Event Horizon. This is really an incredible project backed by inspired, beastly musicians. With shades of Pink Floyd, Cynic, and Meshuggah (interesting combo), Crossing The Event Horizon consistently puts out great, creative music. Honestly, the sky is the limit for these guys so I wanted to showcase some of their music to help get the name out there. They released a teaser for new music a couple months back and new music has finally arrived.

Did I mention this band had a psychedelic flare? If you can't tell from the spacey, unusual music you can tell from the video selection. "The Voidance Principle" is the newest song. It's video comes from the movie "Blueberry (Renegade)" which depicts an intense ayahausca trip, providing some serious eye candy to compliment the complex music. And the music is incredible. Under that is "Corridor", which gets stuck in my head easily with it's eerie groove. The video comes from the movie "Enter The Void" depicting a DMT trip. Finally, you can listen to the inspiring "Whence Came Creation". Don't know the movie, but you can watch existence take shape which is kinda cool I guess... Hopefully you guys enjoy the music as much as I do. Stay classy.

MIND'S I - THE GOOD NEWS AND THE BAD NEWS

Mind's I is a band overflowing with potential. Raw talent and original ideas are what really set them apart. Members of Born of Osiris saw this in them and brought them to Illinois to record their debut EP. So far only two tracks have been released but it's sounding eargasmic. Check out "Correlations Pt 2" below.

Recently, both good news and bad news came with this band. Let's start with the bad, shall we? Mind's I just parted ways with two band members yesterday. One of which was a beastly guitarist. They released the following statement:

"Dear Mind's I fans,
Khaled and I (Joe Vanderhoff) have decided to parts ways with Mind's I. We had a lot of fun creating and playing music together, but we all agree that it is time for us to go our separate ways. Marcy and Jon are really great musicians and we wish them the best on their future musical endeavors! Don't worry, they'll be lots of music coming from all of us! I will be pursuing my musical love, Crossing The Event Horizon full time now! We just uploaded lots of old demos to our facebook page, so please go check those out, like the page if you dig what you hear, and expect LOTS of new material in the near future! Khaled will be working with me in this band as well, so head over there for your fretless bass fix! I'm sorry to anyone that this may disappoint. It was wonderful to get to work with Marcy and Jon, but at the end of the day we all have different creative paths that we must follow!"

The good news? Mind's I will release their EP for FREE (my favorite price!) once their facebook hits 2,500 likes. Get on that people! Also the band isn't gonna let this stop them. They are seeking new members and fully intend to continue making music. And the final bit of good news is that Crossing The Event Horizon is just plain awesome. It's great when you can find good news in the bad. Joe Vanderhoff writes some incredibly trippy, thought provoking music. Check out the song "Corridor" (featuring a clip from possibly the trippiest movie ever, "Enter The Void"). Definitely looking forward to seeing what both of these bands do.
