AFTER THE BURIAL "OF FEARFUL MEN" SINGLE

The new, highly-anticipated After The Burial album "Wolves Within" will be released in less than a month. December 17th on Sumerian Records to be more specific. Pre-orders are available here if you want in on the metal.

The band just dropped the second single off the new record entitled "Of Fearful Men" to follow up the ridiculously groovy "A Wolf Amongst Ravens". The new track harkens back to the shred side of After The Burial which is awesome to hear. There are riffs aplenty and a ripper of a solo to boot. There's even a small classical section towards the middle. And you better believe there are mosh worthy breakdowns tied in. The drumming is incredible as always. The vocals remind me significantly of the bands stellar live performances. And the bass work is great from what I can hear.

The only issue I initially had was the production quality. But after hearing the non-Youtube version (which was released via iTunes) things cleared up in my ears. This is a solid, headbanger of a track.

After The Burial is back!

AFTER THE BURIAL "A WOLF AMONGST RAVENS" SINGLE

The time has finally come for After The Burial to drop a new single! The long awaited "A Wolf Amongst Ravens" has officially arrived after being played live for months. From the sounds of it, it's one of the grooviest tracks on the record with a massive, off-kiltered guitar tone which is punctuated with razor tight, rhythmic playing. It also sounds as if it will be one the slower songs on the album, leaving room for the shred.

Alongside the single release, they've also put out plenty of information regarding the new album, "Wolves Within". It will officially hit store shelves on December 17th after the bands re-signing to the metal juggernaut Sumerian Records. Pre-orders are available now! Grab yours right here!

Go ahead and listen to "A Wolf Amongst Ravens" and read the official statement below!

Minnesota based AFTER THE BURIAL have returned with what is being hailed as their career defining album, Wolves Within, which is now set for a Dec 17th release. It's been three years since the band has released any new material, but upon first listen it's very evident that it's been well worth the wait. The tech wizardry is amped way up, the breakdowns are massive and face melting and the vocal delivery is the most devastating yet. Already lauded for their technically impressive yet well structured style of songwriting, AFTER THE BURIAL certainly takes things up a notch or two with this newest outing.

AFTER THE BURIAL has also re-signed with longtime label Sumerian Records and will hit the road across North America this week with DevilDriver and Trivium. A brand new AFTER THE BURIAL track, "A Wolf Amongst Ravens," can be heard now at the link below and be sure to visit www.facebook.com/aftertheburial to view all tourdates.

Justin Lowe (guitars) states: "We are beyond excited to announce that our new album, Wolves Within, will be released December 17th on Sumerian Records. We've spent the last two years pushing our own limits in an attempt to give you what we feel is some of the most crushing and dynamic material we've written to date. We feel like this record is a new beginning for us. We are continually trying to push our own musical and creative boundaries that have yet to be explored, and simultaneously paving the way for the future of our sound.

"We also couldn't be happier to announce that we have re-signed with Sumerian Records. We have so much respect for not only everyone at the label, but for all of the bands on the roster as well. For almost six years, Sumerian has been our home, and the home to many of our favorite bands. None of us could ask for a better setting right now, having the opportunity to work with our friends on a daily basis doing what we love."

Ash Avildsen (Sumerian Founder) further comments: "Re-signing AFTER THE BURIAL is a momentous day for Sumerian. ATB has been a very important band to the label for many years. They're a group of great people with diligence and determination for their craft who happen to also be excellent musicians. The cultural significance of AFTER THE BURIAL as a band and Sumerian Records as a brand have grown in tandem and are now at an all time high. Here's to more years of kicking ass together. Twin Cities Crush FTW."

NEW AFTER THE BURIAL SONG NEXT WEEK!

In case you haven't heard, After The Burial have a new album set to drop this year! The Twin Cities juggernauts have been hard at work for quite some time now. Currently they're gearing up to show off their efforts. Expect shred, heaviness, extreme technicality, and some forward thinking to boot.

The first single will hit very soon. The band officially announced via social networking that the new song will be released November 5th - next Tuesday.

Beyond this, the band has made three big moves in support of this album. First off, they released a studio video sometime last year showing some serious guitar work through various fronts. Next, they started playing the tracks "A Wolf Amongst Ravens" and "Anti-Pattern" live, opening up mosh pits everywhere. They also came out with a full band teaser with some ridiculous drumming and added heaviness. Check all the above below the teaser image. And watch out for more to come!

We have some footage from this tour that never saw the light of day... until now. Better late than never right? Our team actually attended two shows, one in Pittsburgh and one in upstate New York. ART GALLERY - PINK FLOYD / NE OBLIVISCARIS / AFTER THE BURIAL

Ever have album art melt your face? Every once and awhile a band will create or commission artwork which is undeniably awesome, iconic, or inspiring. Sometimes it compliments the music in the perfect way, leaving a mark on the listener or maybe even music history itself.

Introducing the Art Gallery. We're gonna take at some really cool art and listening to some good music in the process.

First up we have Australia's Ne Obliviscaris, an incredible band hailing from Australia. Their vocalist Xenoyr actually created this masterpiece himself in order to compliment the band's aural masterwork. Well done.

Next, we have After The Burial's "In Dreams". There is no denying the work of art on the cover. Consider my mind blown.

I had to include this one. Such a classic. Pink Floyd's masterwork is aesthetically, musically, culturally, and historically significant.

AFTER THE BURIAL “THIS LIFE IS ALL WE HAVE” EP REVIEW

You can see from miles away that this is After The Burial's year. After setting the bar high for everyone with their first three albums (the debut “Forging A Future Self”, their masterpiece “Rareform”, and their acclaimed 2010 success “In Dreams”), this band has redesigned the standards of all modern metal. Whether it's metalcore, deathcore, or djent, their influence on the evolution of this music, along with great bands like Veil Of Maya and Born Of Osiris, is unquestionable.

As they're currently in the studio creating the new gem which will further enrich their discography (at least we hope so), the band decided to further arouse our interests by releasing re-recorded versions of three songs from their brilliant debut “Forging A Future Self”. The three that were chosen are “A Steady Decline”, “Fingers Like Daggers” and “Redeeming The Wretched”. All of which have become big time classics in the eyes and ears of many metalheads. So it's no surprise that all the re-worked tracks are fucking epic!

This EP is actually flawless. The recording and production quality is perfect. The instumentation is just sublime. Overall it's incredibly intense and enjoyable on every level, listen after listen.

The new Anthony Notarmaso vocals are also really appreciable, providing a personal, heartfelt and brilliant interpretation of the original lyrics belted by Nick Wellner. This wasn't an easy accomplishment considering the two vocalists have greatly varying styles. In this EP, Notarmaso's vocals are technically amazing but obviously not everybody will appreciate them since a lot of people are deeply fond of the original versions, which is a legit and comprehensible stand. Personally, I'm a fan of both vocalists and like to appreciate the different shades of their attitudes.

Besides the vocals and the audio quality there's not much new stuff to discuss here. So we can largely approve this small release. We'll keep it blasting as we look forward to the new album coming this fall. It's looking to be truly amazing. Time to get stoked! ...Very stoked!

THROWBACK THURSDAY - EUROBLAST 8

The thing that sucks about living in States is that Europe gets all the great shows. And the problem with living in Europe is that the US gets all the great shows. If you catch my drift... You can't win either way.

For this reason I did not personally attend Euroblast 8 but there's no denying the line-up was insanely good. There was also an incredible tour alongside the main event with Scar Symmetry among others. So today we're gonna be taking a look back at some of the incredible sets that were played at the main festival itself along with prepping you for this year's Euroblast 9.

Euroblast 8 was stacked with names like After The Burial, Tesseract, Jeff Loomis, War From A Harlots Mouth, Vildhjarta, Skyharbor, Chimp Spanner, Monuments, Circle of Contempt, The Algorithm, Agent Fresco, Destiny Potato, and the list goes on... Check out footage from the bands down below! Also included possibly one of the coolest festival trailers ever made, featuring music from the incredible Akeldama.

Currently the line-up for this years festival is being announced bit by bit. There have already been several awesome bands announced including Benea Reach, Mnemic, Twelve Foot Ninja, The Omega Experiment, Cyclamen, Tardive Dyskinesia, etc. You can check the rest of the bands / get all kinds of info here. This years festival will be huge!

AFTER THE BURIAL "THIS LIFE IS ALL WE HAVE" EP PREVIEW

2013 is After The Burial's year. Not only do they have the main event coming your way this Fall with their fourth full-length studio album, they will be officially re-releasing 3 tracks from their 2006 debut "Forging A Future Self" with the vocal stylings of current front man Anthony Notarmaso. History repeats itself. A similar tactic was used for the re-release of 2008's modern day classic "Rareform" and the 2011 version of "Pi (The Mercury God Of Infinity)".

“Over the summer we tracked a few of these songs for you. After sitting on them for a while, we thought it would be cool to share them with you while we are in the studio recording our new album.” - After The Burial

The 3 tracks that made the cut are "A Steady Decline", "Fingers Like Daggers", and "Redeeming The Wretched". The new version of "A Steady Decline" is already circulating the web! Check it out below and get your face melted \m/

Mark your calendars, the EP will be available on April 30th. It will be a good day for metal. And don't forget to stay tuned. Plenty more is coming from After The Burial this year!

THROWBACK THURSDAY - AFTER THE BURIAL TO RE-RELEASE "FORGING A FUTURE SELF"?

This is one of those rare occasions that recent news will pop up in the Throwback Thursday segment. Modern Metal legends After The Burial have been kicking ass and taking names for awhile now. Seven years ago, they independently released their hard hitting debut "Forging A Future Self". Since then, they've signed with the legendary Sumerian Records and have released two albums, the classic "Rareform" and "In Dreams".

When current vocalist Anthony Notarmaso joined the Minnesota Metal unit back in 2008, they successfully re-recorded "Rareform". Well it seems that history repeats itself in more ways than one. After The Burial have re-recorded songs from their original album with the inclusion of Anthony and may be releasing them all sometime before their fourth studio album drops later this year. Who knows? Maybe they'll re-release the whole thing. There's a lot to look forward to from ATB!

They've been talking about this course of action to crowds on tour for awhile now and even mentioned it in the February update here, but the first musical evidence just arrived this week with the impressive, updated version of the fan favorite "A Steady Decline". It sounds too good! Definitely looking forward to the possibility of enjoying the rest of the album, especially a 2013 version of "Pi (The Mercury God Of Infinity)" to follow up the original and 2011 versions. Go ahead and give the remastered track a listen along with some more goods.
