THY ART IS MURDER TO TOUR EUROPE WITH HEART OF A COWARD, AEGAEON, AND AVERSIONS CROWN

Hell yeah! It looks like Europe is going to burn in high, hot flames in January when Nuclear Blast's Australian deathcore heavyweights Thy Art Is Murder start their tour in January 2014. They'll be hitting the road with one of the heaviest line-ups we've seen recently... English hardcore masters Heart Of A Coward, the American heaviness that is Aegaeon, and more epic deathcore from down under brought by Aversion Crown.

The short tour will mostly take place in Germany but will also touch Poland, Belgium, and France. If they come near you, definitely don't miss this moshable line up! Dates are on the flyer below.

THE ACACIA STRAIN "ABOVE/BELOW" 7" STREAM

Back in May, The Acacia Strain decided to move on without their studio guitarist / founding member Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz. You can read up more on that here. Even more recently, the band announced two new guitarists set to officially join their line-up in his place. Devin Shidaker (ex-Oceano) and Richard Gomez are those guitarists.

For the first time you can hear the heavy damage the new line-up is doing. The band just dropped a new 7", "Above/Below", packed with two dangerous new tracks appropriately titled "Above" and "Below". You can stream both of the above, below. And if you find yourself moshing involuntarily, you can get the physical 7" here and the digital release on iTunes!

There have been several developments in the Veil of Maya camp. First and foremost, they finished up recording their brand new EP, which is set to be released through Sumerian Records sometime soon. Next up, they have re-signed with Sumerian. Not too surprising given the info above. And last, but definitely not least, Veil of Maya dropped a brand new track recently which now available for purchase! Grab it here.

And now for something completely different.... I'm betting some of you have heard the name Daniel Tompkins before. Well... if it doesn't ring any bells he's the ex-Tesseract singer currently working with Skyharbor, Absent Hearts, and In Colour. On top of all those projects, he just released his solo effort this week! White Moth Black Butterfly is the kind of music you rarely get to experience. Pressing play on any of these songs will submerge you in a world of pure atmosphere, aurally pleasing and conceptually huge. The primary focus is in creating unique, flowing, multi-layered soundscapes for fresh ears to traverse. Give a listen on Bandcamp!

FREE MUSIC MONDAY - DESPITE EXILE

Don't hate on me for this, and don't think I'm a patriot in any way but I must say it: my country, Italy, is developing a really sick modern progressive/tech-metal scene. A lot of interesting acts focused around prog/math/djent music are emerging everywhere across our nation.

Latest but definitely not least, progressive deathcore act Despite Exile is ready to bring the whole scene to an even higher level with the release of their forthcoming debut “Sentience”. The album is due to release November 26th. The video for the first single “Immanence” just hit the world wide web through BeheadingTheTraitor on Youtube. And it's just massive. Mighty vocals, devastating riffage, and all kinds of greatness included. If you don't believe me, let this stuff crush you. Check em out.

Download the single FOR FREE right here!

BANDS TO WATCH OUT FOR - AEOLIST / FIRST FRAGMENT / ABIOTIC

Here's a collection of three bands you'd best be keeping an eye on.

There's a new band on the verge of blowing minds. Coming from the UK, Aeolist is a super technical Progressive Metal band that brings all the shred and off-time insanity one could possibly hope for. There's even serious touches of taste and melodic thinking in there. Missing out on these guys might be a mistake. Be on the lookout for their debut EP dropping November 14th in association with our friends at Monolithic Music!

Links: Facebook // Bandcamp

Coming from Canada, Tech-Death talents First Fragment are definitely a band to watch out for. This is an incredible musical unit bringing evident purpose and direction. As with most bands in the genre, you should expect extreme heaviness, brutality, and technicality pushed to it's limits. First Fragment delivers all of this and more. Currently they're working on their debut full-length and from the sounds of it, it's going to be a monster. You can sample 2010's "The Afterthought Ectasy" below.

Coming out of South Florida, Tech Death 5 piece Abiotic have been tearing shit up (especially their bassist) since 2010. However, changes recently took place as they swapped one vocalist for another. Currently, the re-aligned band is working on a follow up to 2012's blistering "Symbiosis". Should be heavy \m/ Check the classic "Vermosapien" down below, listen to the new vocalist here, and be on the lookout for much more where that came from!

THOSE WHO FEAR "BURN" MUSIC VIDEO

The anger is strong in this band. Facedown Records’ Those Who Fear just dropped a music video in support of their debut full-length "Unholy Anger" and you better believe it lives up to its title. The track is a heavy hitting aural assault intent on making crowds move and making the movers mosh.

The video itself successfully captures the energy of the song in a different way. Instead of violence, it brings an eerie sensory onslaught. The band headbangs while trading shots with a cautious torchbearer, leading you on a simple, yet effective narrative. Go ahead and watch the video / jam the tracks from "Unholy Anger" down below.

Another Tuesday, another three releases for you to enjoy. Also be sure to check the new releases from Dagoba and The Melvins along with the new single from After The Burial! Not to mention re-releases from Skeletonwitch (greatest hits 2009-2012) and Northlane!

Formed from ex-members of Earth Crisis and emerging from Syracuse, Freya is a metal unit to be reckoned with. They just dropped their long-awaited album "Paragon of the Crucible" today through Holy Mountain Music / Deadlight Entertainment! Listen below or stream the entire album on Lambgoat! Be sure to support if you enjoy!

How does 160 minutes of Dream Theater wrecking a stage sound to you? If it's sounding like a good time (honestly, why wouldn't it?), be sure to check their live DVD / Blu-Ray "Live At Luna Park" including a bunch of classic tracks with bonus footage to boot! Filmed in Argentina. Click here to see how John Petrucci learns new songs.

IMPENDING DOOM "DOOMSDAY" MUSIC VIDEO

There is new a new doom hitting the scene this November with the return of Christian heavy metal artists Impending Doom through their 5th studio album "Death Will Reign." This album was recorded, produced and mixed by musical genius of Will Putney (Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder, Upon A Burning Body, etc.) at the Machine Shop. If the thought of the penetrating brutality that this record encapsulates does not quite get you all hot and bothered, perhaps Impending Doom's record label, eOne, can get your testosterone flowing and fuel your anticipation for this monster release by their declaration about the record which states, "Prepare yourselves for one of the heaviest records of 2013!"

The band just released a brand new music video for the track (theme song?), "Doomsday", in support of this. It is very damn heavy. The video compliments this well. Check it below along with the single / title track, "Death Will Reign".

Once your neck gets a break from the spine breaking head banging that you just experienced, go HERE to pick up your pre-order bundle for Impending Doom's new album which is available worldwide on November 5th!

VEIL OF MAYA "SUBJECT ZERO" SINGLE

There have been several developments in the Veil of Maya camp. First and foremost, they finished up recording their brand new EP, which is set to be released through Sumerian Records sometime soon. Next up, they have re-signed with Sumerian. Not too surprising given the info above. And last, but definitely not least, Veil of Maya dropped a brand new track! Check it out below along with their statement.
__________________________________________________________________________________

Here it is! Check out our brand new song "Subject Zero" and let us know what you think!

We are very happy to re-sign with Sumerian Records. We have built a long-lasting relationship with the people there, and believe that they are stronger then ever. We couldn't see our band going anywhere else after our history, so therefore Sumerian has been and will continue to be the label the band calls home.

As a band, we feel like we have grown tremendously. We are all ready, focused and want to put out the hardest material possible. The new stuff that has been written is some of the best Veil yet. We are really excited to see everyone out on our next headlining tour. We feel this tour is a great mix of bands, most of which haven't been to America before, so let's make sure they feel welcomed here. We are stoked for everyone to hear the new track we just released and see what we have been preparing. Expect a new VOM full length album in 2014 via Sumerian Records. See you all soon.

Sumerian Founder Ash Avildsen states: "For years, Veil of Maya has been a flagship heavy band for Sumerian and continues to play a crucial role in our progressive metal movement. I am very grateful and excited to have such a talented, hardworking and sagacious group of dudes in the family for many more years to come."

The new single "Subject Zero" will be available on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon MP3 November 11th.

JON "THE CHARN" RICE LEAVES JOB FOR A COWBOY

The long standing drummer of Job For A Cowboy, Jon "The Charn" Rice, has officially left the band. Since joining in 2007, it's pretty clear he has helped pushed JFAC in the right direction, away from their original Deathcore sound. I'm sure this trend will continue without him. Additionally, I'm sure many have noticed how the band moved from chagrin to a position of respect as a result of this. His stellar contributions will be missed but the good news is he's looking for a new job (ba dum tsk). You can read his official statement and jam some metal below.
__________________________________________________________________________________

As of this past August, I have decided to part ways with Job for a Cowboy. There are a few reasons for this, none of which I’m going to get into.

That being said, I have no intentions of stopping touring or playing. I honestly love to tour and play live with new people, so I look forward to playing in new musical arenas in the future.

The dudes and I are on very good terms with this and they understand the decision. They have a new record in the making and I’m extremely excited to hear it.

Thanks again to everyone.

FREE MUSIC MONDAY - FLUB

This is one of those bands I just happened upon by chance (aka in the message soup we call our Facebook inbox). Despite the rough lack of polished production behind the music, the music itself is quite impressive. Hailing from Sacramento, Flub deliver a blend of Death Metal, core elements, Progressive Metal, and pure creativity straight to your ear drums.

A few months back, they independently launched their debut EP entitled "Purpose". I highly recommend you give it a listen. Especially considering that the entire EP is available for a "name your price" download on Bandcamp! Stream and support if you enjoy!

BORN OF OSIRIS "DIVERGENCY" MUSIC VIDEO

Born of Osiris just released their second music video in support of their latest record, "Tomorrow We Die ∆live" (read our review here). And just like the first video for the heavy-hitting opener, "M∆chine", it's a live one. This is an appropriate move as the opening tracks of the album are the straight-forward, fun, moshable ones. The video itself is pretty rad, providing a twist with a well executed mirror effect. Give it a go down below.

Are you feeling it now Mr. Krabs?

PANDORA'S WAKE "NEW LIFE" SINGLE (FREE MUSIC!)

Pandora's Wake is an upcoming band with a lot of promise. They bring a furious Metalcore sound to the table with other elements mixed in. And having already shared the stage with groups such as Betraying The Martyrs and Upon A Burning Body, things are only looking up for these heavy weight newcomers.

They recently dropped a new single entitled "New Life" which has seen a good leap for this band. They've always had a tight sound, but it just seems that much tighter this time around thanks to improved production. And similar to their debut EP, "The Exposition", this single is available for a "name your price" download on Bandcamp! Grab it while it lasts.

"THE ABOUT THAT LIFE TOUR" AT CHAIN REACTION LIVE REVIEW / INTERVIEW WITH DANNY LEAL FROM UPON A BURNING BODY

Attila is currently on the road touring off of their newest album release, “About That Life”, with their tour mates, Upon A Burning Body, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, The Plot In You, and Fit For a King. I got a chance to catch the seventh show of this thirty date nationwide tour… and this was my experience.

Right from the beginning, it was obvious that this was a sold out show and I didn’t need to see the “Sold Out” sign in the front to determine that. As soon as I walked into the venue, people were body-to-body in just about every place except the slight opening for the pathway to the exit. Within seconds, sweat began to roll down my face from the heat generated from a couple hundred of pumped metal heads engaging in the festivities.

The first band to storm the stage that night was Dallas Texas’s Christian metal band Fit For A King. Personally I had only heard of this band but I never actually took a second to check them out and mannnnnnn now I wish I would have. This band puts on a high energy performance with very clean and precise musical talent. This is no doubt a band that I am going to keep my eye on because I think in the next couple of years they are going to blow up the scene.

Next, The Plot In You handled their business and they were entertaining as hell. The highlight of their performance was the intensity of their front man, Landon Tewers who is indeed a performer of the highest caliber. He expressed his passion by continuously moving all across the stage and by doing so he effortlessly kept the overall intensity of the room at a high level. I had never seen this band live before and I definitely recommend it on the account of just a visually energetic show.

Due to sitting down and chatting with Danny Leal for a exclusive interview and needed to get some fresh air I wasn’t able to catch IWRESTLEDABEARONCE’s performance, but based off of the craziness that I could hear pounding through the venue walls, I have no doubt that they had a elite performance as well.

Next up was the band we were there for. As soon as Upon A Burning Body hit the stage the crowd responded just as any band would want their fans to. Within seconds people were climbing onto the stage and diving on the crowd of screaming fans that were bouncing in synchronization while yelling the song lyrics as passionately as they could. This venue, unlike so many others in Southern California, offers an intimate experience because there are no security guards and no barricades that keep the crowd at a distance from the band. By the end of Upon A Burning Body’s set at least twenty people must have jumped onstage, including a female who rolled onstage, just before the exploding bass of a breakdown, and got tangled in Danny’s microphone completely messing up the rhythm of the song. Danny’s reply was something to the extent of, “Wow you just completely fucked that up…. You better make it up with an epic stage dive as soon as the music kicks in,” Which of course she did.
__________________________________________________________________________________

Upon A Burning Body’s set list was:

1. Showtime
2. Intermission
3. Devil's Advocate
4. Mimic
5. El Mariachi
6. Desperado
7. Once Upon a Time in Mexico
8. Game Over
9. Texas Blood Money
10. Sin City
__________________________________________________________________________________

Lastly the tour head liner, Attila, performed and if you have ever seen Attila before then you know that their show is always fun. Say what you want about their music, but their performances are a blast and it was very easy to see that Atilla was the band that the majority of the crowd was waiting to see. From middle fingers in the air, to screaming Fronz’s funny and somewhat controversial lyrics the crowd was going nuts. The moisture in the venue from heat was so strong that Fronz was having a difficult time keeping his balance on the metal risers that were on the stage. Attila played a wide variety of songs from multiple albums and when they attempted to end the night with “Callout” the crowd wasn’t ready to go home and by their chanting of “One more song!,” Attila came back to the stage and closed it up with a crowd favorite, “Payback.”
__________________________________________________________________________________

Atilla’s set list was:

1. Middle Fingers Up
2. Hellraiser
3. Rage
4. Sex, Drugs, & Violence
5. Outlawed
6. Break Shit
7. Nasty Mouth
8. Party With the Devil
9. The New Kings
10. About That Life
11. Callout
12. Payback

UPON A BURNING BODY "TEXAS BLOOD MONEY" MUSIC VIDEO

Texas Deathcorians Upon A Burning Body recorded and released a music video from their Warped Tour exploits in The Lonestar State. "Texas Blood Money" is the spiritual sequel to the heavy party anthem "Intermission" found on their debut, "The World Is Ours". From the east to the south, this track has been rocking from their latest record, "Red. White. Green.". This video pushes in that point by showing off a damn party on the stage and in the crowd. And I'm sure there was an after party to match.

So go ahead and check the video along with some more recent tracks from Upon A Burning Body below!

Also, our man Marcus (aka \m/eyer) just covered a show headlined by these guys and interviewed their vocalist Danny Leal. So more on that coming soon!

CHELSEA GRIN TEASE NEW SINGLE

It's no secret that the famed Deathcore act Chelsea Grin has been working on new material over the past few months. Now it looks as if their recent work is coming to an end. The band officially has a new single somewhere around the corner. No real details have been made public but.... here's a new teaser. Also included their previous teaser making for a little over a minute of new content here (pretty sure they're from the same song anyways / the new teaser being much more polished). If you're a fan, czech it out and stay tuned.
