In preparation for the release of Fit For A King’s revisited version of their 2011 album “Decendants”, the band released a sneak-peak into the recreation by premiering a music video for the track “Keep Me Alive” via Alternative Press. Working in collaboration with the production talent of Andreas Magnusson (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) and Solid State Records, Fit For A King’s remastered album will be available on November 25th.

Tim Lambesis is a guy with an unpleasant life. After allegedly hiring someone to kill his estranged wife, paying massive bail, blaming it on the roids, being in and out of court for awhile, and facing the very real possibility of going to jail - there's a cherry on top. The legends at Lambgoat have found that said estranged wife is suing him. The cost?
Two million dollars. She's seeking the money for health and legal expenses in a case opposing the trial for Tim's solicitation charges. Both will likely take place in Spring of next year. We'll keep you up to date.

The new, highly-anticipated After The Burial album "Wolves Within" will be released in less than a month. December 17th on Sumerian Records to be more specific. Pre-orders are available here if you want in on the metal.
The band just dropped the second single off the new record entitled "Of Fearful Men" to follow up the ridiculously groovy "A Wolf Amongst Ravens". The new track harkens back to the shred side of After The Burial which is awesome to hear. There are riffs aplenty and a ripper of a solo to boot. There's even a small classical section towards the middle. And you better believe there are mosh worthy breakdowns tied in. The drumming is incredible as always. The vocals remind me significantly of the bands stellar live performances. And the bass work is great from what I can hear.
The only issue I initially had was the production quality. But after hearing the non-Youtube version (which was released via iTunes) things cleared up in my ears. This is a solid, headbanger of a track.
Clermont, FL based Progressive Metalcore outfit “The Advaita Concept” have dropped the first single off their upcoming EP, and needless to say, it’s ridiculously good. Titled “Time Waits for No One”, the single has premiered on BeheadingTheTraitor’s channel some time ago:
The band has also released the artwork (courtesy Memoria Designs) for the album and it’s equally captivating to say the least.
Prior to the song release I caught The Advaita Concept on their Facebook page to share the message and the story behind the track and the lads where nice enough to share the following message along with the single in question.
“The song is about following your dreams and making your own luck. We want to influence others to live life on their own terms, and not to conform to societal norms. There is nothing worse than living a life of regret and wondering what could have been. This track differs from the rest of the tracks on our upcoming EP simply because it's the lightest track.
We wrote this track because we follow its message and it works for us! We want to be a positive influence and role model in the metal scene as well as the music industry as a whole. We have no label, and all production, writing, etc is in house, and the art is outsourced to a very close friend of ours. Our message is, if you want something you take it. Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”
On prodding them farther to reveal details about the EP, they chose to remain tight-lipped but otherwise hinted at material that’s heavier than anything they have done so far, even heavy enough to rival prominent Deathcore numbers.
Clearly The Advaita Concept has been playing their hand carefully and wisely to have come up with a catchy single like this, with the best still in store for all of us. Finding a middle ground between the current crop of delay-inspired Metalcore sound and the good old Gothenburg Melodeath inspired riff-heavy Metalcore, seems to be something not many bands are opting to do these days, and at this point we can safely bet it’s bound to yield positive reaction, from fans and critics alike, in favour of the yet-unsigned act. Just goes to show you big labels only do so much to guarantee good music.

After releasing one of the most incredible metalcore albums of 2010 with their debut “Maelstrom”, Khaorah have finally unveiled new music! The French band released their anticipated four track EP entitled “Pangaea” on November 11th. After giving a few good listens, it's safe to say it's impressive.
The EP has been released digitally for purchase on iTunes. But if you want to break it in before you buy, your ears are in luck! “Pangaea” has been made available for streaming in it's entirety on Spotify and other services such as Deezer.
The incredible fact is that the band has been making huge steps in achieving an even better sound than their debut. This honestly went beyond my expectations... and to be frank, my expectations were lofty.
Just listen to the opening track “Enhance Your Existence”. The guitar work is beautiful, clean and detailed. The track is morbid and heavy at the same time. Huge atmospheres and perfect synths included. The new vocals gave me some doubts when I first heard the teaser. But now that I hear the finished product, it sounds really impressive. Lionel Forest has managed to bring this band to an even higher level. You can hear it clearly from the first track and from the following song “Architects Of Our Destiny” - a splendid 7 minute ballad which is truly touching in every segment.
Things get heavier and much more groovy with track 3, “The Wrong Cycle”. It unleashes a more common side of this band without being banal. The final track “Numbers” works amazingly as an atmospheric outro for the EP.
“Pangaea” is a short but intense melodic metalcore experience with big prog influences from one of the most underrated bands of the amazing French metal scene. This band should surely emerge and get the much deserved recognition as one of the more interesting upcoming acts of the continent.

Guitarist Victory Ray Salomonsen is no longer a member of the longstanding Denmark metal band Mnemic. The band released a lengthy statement detailing the departure. They also delve into a band update, talking about the current status of Mnemic and plans for the future. Read below.
"Hey folks, without further ado it’s time to shed some light on Mnemic‘s present and future.
Bad news first, we’re sad to announce that guitarist Victor Ray Salomonsen has decided to leave the band to pursue other musical paths and also focusing on being a dad. We want to thank him for two awesome years together, that made “Mnemesis” as well as 3 European tours, 1 Australian tour and many other great shows around the globe.
There is no way we are going to let Victor out without throwing a big-ass “goodbye” party, that’s why we invite you to join us @ BETA in Copenhagen on November 28th 2013 where we’ll have our last show with him, so let’s have one hell of a great time together!
Many of you have probably been wondering, and some have been asking us in regards to why there has not been any activity from our side. The reason we’ve cancelled the latest shows, including our Euroblast appearance, was due to lineup instability as Victor left the band this summer, and bad vibes surrounding the band; and this turmoil was also undermining the writing process of Mnemic‘s next album. And with the next album, great responsibility, clutter and confusion are not compatible with it.
Therefore we decided to take a breather, clear out our minds and start fresh when the stars will align. In this era of fast food approach applied over music we’ll go zen over it and focus on music alone. It is what matters the most and what will be remembered overtime, not the noise surrounding it. That’s why we’ll keep as a 4 piece for the time being.
In the meantime our side projects, Mircea‘s Blood Eagle, Guillaume‘s One Way Mirror, Simone‘s The Modern Age Slavery and Empyrios will keep us busy and help getting back on track with an album to be remembered!

serious touches of taste and melodic thinking in there. Formed last year, they've already managed to make some light ripples
throughout the metal underground with their brand of heavy music. They
played UK Tech Fest this year, for example (as a shred worthy
replacement for Neosis).
The band just dropped their debut, self-titled EP independently (with
support from our friends at Monolithic Music and Hold Tight! PR). And a
great debut it is. From tracks "I" through "IV" the band provides a

Metalcore outfit “I Killed the Prom Queen” are once again back on the scene, and by the looks of it, this time they are back for good. The band recently put up a video teaser for a track off their yet-to-be-named full length album which should see an early-2014 release. The band has also reportedly been recruited into the reputed “Epitaph Records” roster. Guitarist/Vocalist Jona Weinhofen (ex-Bleeding Through, ex-Bring Me The Horizon) issued the following statement on the signing:
“We are absolutely ecstatic to join the Epitaph Records family. Having worked with the label previously with Bring Me The Horizon, I knew exactly what Epitaph was capable of and that it would be the perfect home for I Killed The Prom Queen. Epitaph is already the home to so many of our heroes such as Converge, Refused, Pennywise and Every Time I Die, and has helped launch our good friends Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside, Day Of Contempt, Letlive. and more. To say that we are a part of this family is truly an honour.”
Adding more fuel to an already promisingly inflammable first quarter (of 2014), now full-time member Weinhofen has also commented on the band’s studio status:
“We are dying to get this album out and into the hands of old and new I Killed The Prom Queen fans everywhere. To me this record feels as though I Killed The Prom Queen never took a break and is a natural progression of the band. You will hear hints of our side projects and new influences, but make no mistake, this is an I Killed The Prom Queen record through and through. Its fast, melodic, heavy, catchy and we have added a couple of new elements which really bring it up there with the level of music being created these days.”
Weinhofen also stated that the album is being recorded at Studio Fredman, in Gothenburg, Sweden by Fredrik Nordstorm (Bring Me the Horizon, In Flames). The release update also included a video teaser in favour of their tie-up with Epitaph, featuring Parkway Drive’s Winston McCall delivering a testimonial. In the meantime you can also stream the latest original material they had unveiled over a year ago.

When I listen to Aeolist, the big "P" word comes to mind... Potential.
The UK has one of the healthiest, rapidly expanding tech-metal movements
in the world. There are a lot of smart, talented kids picking up
instruments and making awesome things happen. The flood gates opened
years ago, but Aeolist has the talent and creativity to help keep it
going. I have a feeling this band is only getting started.
The EP itself begins with the single "I". This might be the strongest track on "Aeolist", wasting no time as it punches into your eardrums. It serves as a great introduction, giving a great idea of what to expect. Listen through the full EP stream above. If you dig the track, here's some great news for you... Aeolist is offering up the
six-minute "I" for a "name your price" download through their
official Bandcamp page. Get it while you can!
The rest of the EP follows suit in the path carved by "I", all with their own strengths... and in some cases, weaknesses. "II" took time to grow on me, but I'm glad it has. It brings one of the most off-kiltered, awesome instrumental surprises on the EP alongside it's fury. "III" is a heartfelt and powerful track drawn into the instrumental introduction of track "IV" - really showing off this bands creative side. Melodic heaviness strikes back before beautiful instrumental music ultimately closes out the experience.
This is a great release but there are a few minor flaws present. First and foremost, it seems as if the band is still trying to nail down their own sound. Most of the time these guys are dead on, but there are small segments in every song where something feels awkward. Though that's entirely objective. Next up, the vocals are essentially good - but they could be stronger. Practice makes perfect. Other than that, these guys have more or less got it. It was tough rating this one, but in the end "Aeolist" gets an VIII / X (8 out of 10).
I already mentioned the potential here. Expect incredible things from Aeolist as they continue to mature as musicians moving into the future. Missing out on
these guys might be a mistake.
Varied opinions have been spewing since the headlines first emerged in May that
Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine, Pyrithion)
allegedly attempted to have his estranged wife murdered. If you've managed to miss the fallout since, you can catch up here.
After returning to court this week there have been a few new developments. Once again, he has pled not guilty, sticking to the previous defense that his "thought processes were devastatingly affected by his steroid use". And yet again, it has worked in his favor.
According to the champs at Lambgoat (who had an anonymous source in attendance), a January 15th date has been set for the ongoing trial. If it isn't settled by that point, Lambesis may return to court in March. Stay tuned for more.

JB wasn't lying - this by far the most visually complex video August Burns Red has ever came out with. And it effectively compliments the source material. In this case, it supports the opening track "Provision" from the band's newest album, "Rescue & Restore" (read our review here). This week's segment will be fun because we get to explore a truly underground gem. But, before we get into that I just have one thing to say. Metalcore. Okay, now that all of the pretentious metal elitists have stopped reading this article, I can continue with the segment. Whether you love it or hate it, one cannot ignore the fact that metalcore bands had a significant impact on the heavy metal scene in the 2000's. Many of the earlier groups in this particular genre trace their roots back to the 1990's hardcore scene in Massachusetts. A group from this scene that had one of the most significant impacts on the future of metalcore was Aftershock.
This was a band that managed to concoct their own unique sound out of a fairly diverse collection of heavy music styles. The hardcore was definitely present, not just musically but also as far as stage presence is concerned (check out the music video "For Those of You Who Kill"). I think one of the things that made Aftershock stand out from their peers was their willingness to play around with different styles of extreme metal. Vocally, there were clearly death metal and grindcore influences as well as the traditional hardcore barks and chants. Although rare, they occasionally made use of blast beats. Both of these elements helped to establish Aftershock as heavier than average hardcore act. More importantly, this was one of the first American based groups to adopt influences from the Gothenburg melodic death metal lot. With the combination of hardcore breakdowns and melodeath riffs, it's easy to see how some have credited Aftershock as the first metalcore band.
Some of the coolest things actually occurred after the band had more or less broken up. The original guitarist, Jon Donais, was making significant strides with his new band Shadows Fall. Vocalist Tobias Dutkiewicz founded the label Devil's Head Records, which later signed bands such as The Acacia Strain. Guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz joined up with Overcast bassist Mike D'Antonio to form the metalcore act Killswitch Engage. Both directly and indirectly Aftershock and it's band members made an impact on the next generation of metal.

Soooo damn metal \m/ Hydra Kyll is a five piece metal act out of Olney, Maryland. They have
been playing for about three years and have been actively on the scene
for a little over a year. They have been lucky enough to share the stage
with such national acts as: Born Of Osiris, August Burns Red,
Decapitated, and The Faceless. Over the past year they have progressed
musically and have built a base in the underground. Hoping to go far with their music, they continue
to work hard and are determined to make an impact.
Hydra Kyll just released a new single "Rotting Roots" on Halloween! It serves a solid addition to their discography despite the rough production. There haven't been any real developments since May, until now. The original arraignment date of October 22nd was pushed back due to scheduling conflicts with Lambesis' attorney and will now take place November 13th... this week. It's possible the case will be resolved beforehand if a plea bargain is reached. Stay tuned for more info, which is sure to come streaming in later this week.

Coming from Canada, Tech-Death talents First Fragment are definitely a band to watch out for. This is an
incredible musical unit bringing evident
purpose and direction. As with most bands in the genre, you should
expect extreme heaviness, brutality, and technicality pushed to it's limits.
First Fragment delivers all of this and more. Currently they're working on their debut full-length and from the sounds of it, it's going to be a monster. You can sample 2010's "The Afterthought Ectasy" below.
Coming out of South Florida, Tech Death 5 piece Abiotic have been tearing shit up (especially their bassist) since 2010. However, changes recently took place as they swapped one vocalist for another. Currently, the re-aligned band is working on a follow up to 2012's blistering "Symbiosis". The time has finally come for After The Burial to drop a new single! The long awaited "A Wolf Amongst Ravens" has officially arrived after being played live for months. From the sounds of it, it's one of the grooviest tracks on the record with a massive, off-kiltered guitar tone which is punctuated with razor tight, rhythmic playing. It also sounds as if it will be one the slower songs on the album, leaving room for the shred.

Minnesota based AFTER THE BURIAL have returned with what is being hailed as their career defining album, Wolves Within, which is now set for a Dec 17th release. There is new a new doom hitting the world today with the return
of Christian heavy metal artists Impending Doom through their 5th studio
album "Death Will Reign." This album was recorded, produced and mixed
by musical genius of Will Putney (Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder,
Upon A Burning Body, etc.) at the Machine Shop. Expect extreme heaviness and destruction \m/
Heavy and hard-hitting, "Singularity" never makes a full plunder,
remaining regal with the support of an ethereal influence that is
exhibited in all instruments. Ambiance surrounds the listener’s body,
barely keeping them afloat above the deep grooves. The album delivers
terms that sounds torturous, but musically, when one is teased amongst a
perfect balance of angst and bliss, the experience is boundless.
They've released a slew of music videos in support of this. Take a look below and you shall see. Most recently, however, they have released one for the resonating track "Dream Awake". Aesthetically, it may be their most interesting video yet. Which is saying something as their videos are all well done. Give it a watch / listen down under.
A few years ago, while browsing on youtube, I stumbled upon a music video. It was for a song called "Towers" and performed by a band that I had never heard of before. After the song ended I thought to myself, "damn that song was good". A few weeks later I listened to it again, did some research on the band, and found out that a few of the members were previously in a band that Mike Thall had introduced to me, a band called By Blood and Iron. It was interesting to find this out because about a year before hearing "Towers" I had been obsessed with By Blood and Iron's song "The Infernal Offering". Needless to say, this new band was ERRA. Ever since this discovery, I have been listening to ERRA's music, and based on their two ep's and one album I have come to the conclusion that this is what metalcore should sound like in the 2010's.
On Tuesday, October 29th ERRA released their second full length album titled "Augment". This album really continues to expand on the sound they had established on their previous releases. For those unfamiliar with the band, ERRA's sound is more or less a melting pot of brutality, technicality, and melody. "Augment" demonstrates all of these elements perfectly. Garrison Lee's vocals are incredibly heavy. He really focuses on death metal style lows but does not shy away from hardcore yelling every so often. This album also features some of the most crushing breakdowns of 2013. The breakdowns in "Rebirth" and "Prometheus" are comparable to the explosion of an Atom Bomb. The drumming is top notch on this release. Alex Ballew's complex rhythms truly complement the technical riffing of Jesse Cash. "Hybrid Earth" is merely one example of this band's ability to create a technical juggernaut. For such a young band, these guys also have an impressive understanding of melody. The use of synth in "Pulse" blends with the melodic guitar riffs to create an almost transcendent feeling in the song. If you were a fan of ERRA's previous album "Impulse" then be sure to add "Augment" to your collection as well.
In many ways this album demonstrates the band making some major improvements since "Impulse". The production seems to have been toned down on this release. Unlike their last album, every instrument can be heard clearly in the mix. Within the first 15 seconds of the album, the listener can tell that ERRA actually has a bassist. Songs such as "Pulse" and "Ultraviolet" even have standout bass-lines. Second, Jesse Cash's clean vocals have improved tremendously. The only problem I ever had with this band, and many others in the pit agree, were the clean vocals. On "Impulse" the cleans were way too overproduced. On this new album, the autotone was definitely toned down, yielding a much raspier and more authentic sounding vocal performance from Cash. Finally, the overall songwriting has improved on "Augment". There are 12 tracks totaling around 52 minutes. Not to mention the album closer, "Dementia", has epic written all over it. There is really nothing negative to be said about this album. ERRA continues to improve with every release. Be sure to check out "Augment" and support these guys.
In preparation for the release of Fit For A King’s revisited version of their 2011 album “Decendants”, the band released a sneak-peak into the recreation by premiering a music video for the track “Keep Me Alive” via Alternative Press. Working in collaboration with the production talent of Andreas Magnusson (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) and Solid State Records, Fit For A King’s remastered album will be available on November 25th.
