REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS 2013 PREDICTIONS PART IV - BEST VOCALIST / BEST LIVE BAND

Welcome to the fourth installment of our Golden God Award predictions. Voting closes in about a month so feel free to look at the past installments if you haven't done so already. And now, drumroll please...

Best Vocalist

Chino Moreno - Deftones
Chris Cornell - Soundgarden
Corey Taylor - Stone Sour/ Slipknot
Maria Brink - In This Moment
Phil Anselmo - Down
Lzzy Hale - Halestorm

Fe's Predictions

The nominees are getting better and better. I don't have anything to complain about in this category. All of the vocalists have proved themselves to the metal community over the past few years or so so congrats to them.

Honestly, if we are treating this awards show as a popularity contest, I think Lzzy Hale will walk away with the win. Sure, her vocals are strong and she's a looker but is Halestorm really making any groundbreaking progress?

I would be content with anyone in this category winning but in all honesty either Chino Moreno or Maria Brink deserves this one. Deftones will always be a solid band and Maria Brink (as mentioned in last week's Women Who Mosh) obviously has a great talent.

Mike Thall's Predictions

There's some decent talent here but it's not a very hard decision for me... CHINO! Deftones had a huge year and are continuing to push forward like the pros they are. Chino Moreno serves not only as a front man, but as one of the major forces driving the band. He deserves major respect for his efforts.

Best Live Band

Five Finger Death Punch
Anthrax
Hatebreed
Lamb Of God
Slipknot
Volbeat

Fe's Predictions

While I've never had the great opportunity of seeing these bands live, I've heard stories of the incredible shows they put on. They pack venues to full capacity and leave fans begging for more.

I can't really judge in this category because I've never had the experience, but I have a feeling Hatebreed or Anthrax will take the award. Anthrax has been around forever and I'm sure many generations of fans will be voting for the band. I know Hatebreed is touring with Everytime I Die (Buffalo for the win) and I'm sure I will get to experience their show. From watching YouTube videos, I feel like all of these bands bring mind blowing sets to their fans.

Mike Thall's Predictions

Though I'm not the biggest fan of some of these bands *cough*FiveFingerDeathPunch*cough*, I can't deny their ability to deliver a big, entertaining live performance. Of these bands, I've seen Hatebreed and Lamb of God live. Both shows were awesome so those would be my personal picks. But in reality, I see either Anthrax or Slipknot taking the prize due to their legions of loyal fans.

WOMEN WHO MOSH WEDNESDAY - MARIA BRINK OF IN THIS MOMENT

(Cover of Inked Magazine)

Don't let her beauty deceive you. Vocalist Maria Brink of In This Moment knows how to sing / scream and does a damn great job at it. Her vocals have a grittiness that I'm very jealous of and I'm sure other females share this with me. C'mon you've dreamed of being in a rock band at least once or twice in your life ladies.

In This Moment has been through their fair share of climbing the ladder to success. Starting a Myspace back in the good old days of 2005, In This Moment captured the attention of Century Media Records after having a cult following in LA clubs. Their success kept climbing with each album release from 2007's "Beautiful Tragedy" to 2012's "Blood". The band has played Ozzfest and Warped Tour while showing no signs of stopping. Touring with bigger bands and inspirations kept In This Moment thinking and on their toes. Learning from bands such as Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil have secured a spot in the future of metal for In This Moment.

Brink's gritty vocals mixed with her sultry ones along with skull numbing guitar riffs and melodic aesthetics make In This Moment a band to watch out for. The official music video for "Blood" even has 5 million views on YouTube. Lzzy Hale, watch out honey.

REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS 2013 PREDICTIONS PART II - COMEBACK OF THE YEAR / SONG OF THE YEAR

As the Golden God awards slowly approach, we here at The Circle Pit want to help you decide who to cast your vote for in each of the categories. Sure, you have your own mind (we hope) but maybe we can help if you're stuck between voting for a band that's your secret guilty pleasure and a band that actually deserves to win. And the nominees are...

Comeback Of The Year
Aerosmith
Quicksand
Refused
SoundGarden
Tenacious D
The Darkness

Fe's Predictions

The bands in this category are one that show it doesn't matter how old you are, as long as you still have rock and roll in your heart, you can still play music.

All of the bands have had welcoming comebacks with their respective fanbases but it all boils down to how large and computer literate their fan base is (kidding!). While Aerosmith has the largest number of likes on Facebook as well as time under their belts, popularity only goes so far. Yes, their album was a solid release but so were the other albums from the other five acts in the category.

It will definitely be between Aerosmith and Soundgarden. The Seattle based rockers in Soundgarden were pioneers in the prog rock genre and Aerosmith is obviously a huge influence on many in the rock scene.

Mike Thall's Predictions

This is a tough decision... Not exactly metal, but most of the bands are straight up classics. I agree with Fe because I'm betting Aerosmith or Soundgarden will take home the prize. It would also be rad to see Quicksand, Refused, or even Tenacious D win.

Song Of The Year
"Carry On" Avenged Sevenfold
"Run Free" Asking Alexandria
"In The End" Black Veil Brides
"I Ejaculate Fire" Dethklok
"Love Bites (So Do I)" Halestorm
"Blood" In This Moment

Fe's Predictions

First off, Black Veil Brides go away. Revolver, please keep them out of your awards shows we are begging you. The little scene girls ruin everyone else's chances.

Second, this category features a majority of mainstream bands. That's the thing though, they contribute to the most sales of songs and playtime on everyone's iPhones. While Avenged Sevenfold and Halestorm both had great years, their sound stays the same.

In This Moment and Dethklock have the upper hand with how heavy their tracks are compared to their competition. But will their talent override scene kid obsessions Black Veil Brides or Asking Alexandria?

Well, "Run Free" actually shows some growth from Asking Alexandria. But here's to hoping In This Moment wins over them. I'm obviously all for girl power.

Mike Thall's Predictions

Wow... this is a shit category. I'm gonna have to give it to the hilarious / super talented Dethklok with I EJACULATE FIRE. Because a mummy ejaculating fire on everything and everyone is the most metal thing I've ever seen. And if you aren'ts metal, you ams dildos.
