The band is streaming their first selection from the highly anticipated "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem a Klok Opera" set to be released October 27th at Midnight (ET/PT) on Adult Swim. Created by Brendon Small, the animated one-hour special, Metalocalypse: "The
Doomstar Requiem a Klok Opera," airs Sunday, October 27 at Midnight (ET/PT) on Adult Swim. This once-in-a-lifetime Dethklok experience includes special guests Jack Black, Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, and Cannibal Corpse's George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher.
The original score from Metalocalypse: "The Doomstar Requiem a Klok Opera" will be released as a full-length album on October 29, 2013. And this isn’t just your average metal record— this is full blown musical featuring a fifty-piece orchestra. This full-length album features the bonus Dethklok single "Blazing Star" and orchestral movements (produced by Brendon Small and Emmy winning composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica/Walking Dead). Also
included with the album will be a bonus "making of" featurette with Executive Producer/creator/writer/musician Brendon Small and cast/musicians.
Legendary powerhouse metal drummer Gene Hoglan returns to join Brendon and Dethklok. Other musicians include bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok/The Aristocrats/ Joe Satriani), and Mike Keneally (Dethklok, Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani).
Creator Brendon Small states, “This is not like anything we've ever done. This is a full blown musical- metal combined with symphonic passages, classic musical theatre, high stakes drama, emotional moments, and yes totally ridiculous comedy. Easily the funniest metal show of all time, Metalocalypse, left fans
with one helluva cliffhanger at the end of Season 4. And to makes things
worse, the chances of a new season were looking bleaker with every
passing month. Rumors even circulated that the show was cancelled at a
point to the dismay of many. Rumors ams dildos. But in some ways the
rumors may be true. There might not be another season of
Metalocalypse...
But Dethklok will return with a one hour METAL OPERA special,
"Metalocalypse: The Doom Star Requiem A Klok Opera". Say whaaaa? Doubt anyone saw
that coming when it was announced a few months back. Well... besides Adult Swim and creator Brendan Small himself. It
makes total sense though considering Metalocalypse is a music (metal
\m/) based show. And on top of this, who can say no to a solid hour of
original, new Dethklok music? They might literally kill you if you did.
The "Metalocalypse: The Doom Star Requiem A Klok Opera" will air on Adult Swim on October 27th. You heard right... this is happening THIS MONTH! Prepare yourselves. The score from the TV special will be released a full-length album two days later on October 29th.
Guests include Corpsegrinder from Cannibal Corpse (who has been with the show since the beginning), Jack Black, Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker) and Malcolm McDowell. The special will also include a 50 piece orchestra to back the metal madness.

This
week we're taking the time to focus on two instrumental categories that
honestly don't receive the attention they deserve. I find the
instrumentals of a song to be far more intriguing than the vocal ability
of the vocalist (or their attractiveness level) and there are some very
talented players in the categories this year.
Best Drummer
Abe Cunningham- Deftones
Arejay Hale - Halestorm
Gene Hoglan - Dethklok / Testament
Mario Duplantier - Gojira
Neil Peart - Rush
Roy Mayorga - Stone Sour
Fe's Predictions
I've seen Halestorm twice and it's true that Arejay
Hale doesn't disappoint. His drumming skills are fascinating to watch
and listen to. Plus, he brings young fans onstage to play with him which
showcases his character as a person. However, this category contains
veterans that are more likely to take home the Golden God.
While Abe Cunningham and Neil Peart are legends all by themselves,
this category is a tough call. Young vs old, radio manufactured vs
actual hard hitting metal. There is more than one battle in the nominee
pool for Best Drummer.
I predict that Mario Duplantier from French metal band Gojira will
take the award. I find myself focused mostly on his musicianship while
listening to Gojira. Not to mention, these French metallers rose out of
obscurity and are now globally known in the genre.
Mike Thall's Predictions
This category is incredibly tight. Most of these drummers are extreme talents. As Fe mentioned, there's a mix of old and new here. I'd really like to see Abe Cunningham, Mario Duplantier, Gene Hoglan (aka Pickles), or even Neil Peart win this category. And I'm betting Neil Peart will end up taking home the award because... well... he's fucking Neil Peart.

Fe's Predictions
I'm
pleasantly pleased at the nominees in this category. All of these
guitarists are respectable and can shred like their life depends on it.
It's great that Rush, Deftones, and Dethklok are receiving multiple
nominations in different categories. It truly shows that musical talent
is still considered.
Again, I respect all of the nominees especially Alex Lifeson of
Rush. Age has not deteriorated his ability to rock out and keep up with
the ever changing music scene.
It would be great if Misha
Mansoor of progressive metal band Periphery took home this award. His
dedication to the band and musical talent are noteworthy to the
youngsters trying to make it in the music scene.
However, it's a huge possibility that Stephen Carpenter of Deftones
will win this one. His experience is crazy and his fan base is
dedicated.
This is one category where I would be happy with whatever outcome.

Yet another close category. Everyone here (besides John 5) is insanely good at what they do. I have major respect for all these nominees (except for John 5) and could see any of them walking away with the award. I'm personally gunning for either Misha Mansoor, Stephen Carpenter, or Brendon Small (aka Skwisgaar Skwigelf ) to win this one.

each of the categories. Sure, you have your own mind (we hope) but maybe
we can help if you're stuck between voting for a band that's your
secret guilty pleasure and a band that actually deserves to win. And the

The
bands in this category are one that show it doesn't matter how old you
are, as long as you still have rock and roll in your heart, you can still
play music.
All of the bands have had welcoming comebacks with
their respective fanbases but it all boils down to how large and
computer literate their fan base is (kidding!). While Aerosmith has the
largest number of likes on Facebook as well as time under their belts,
popularity only goes so far. Yes, their album was a solid release but so
were the other albums from the other five acts in the category.
It will definitely be between Aerosmith and
Soundgarden. The Seattle based rockers in Soundgarden were pioneers in
the prog rock genre and Aerosmith is obviously a huge influence on many
in the rock scene.

This is a tough decision... Not exactly metal, but most of the bands are straight up classics. I agree with Fe because I'm betting Aerosmith or Soundgarden will take home the prize. It would also be rad to see Quicksand, Refused, or even Tenacious D win.

First
off, Black Veil Brides go away. Revolver, please keep them out of your
awards shows we are begging you. The little scene girls ruin everyone
else's chances.
Second, this category features a majority of mainstream bands.
That's the thing though, they contribute to the most sales of songs and
playtime on everyone's iPhones. While Avenged Sevenfold and Halestorm
both had great years, their sound stays the same.
In This Moment and Dethklock have the upper hand
with how heavy their tracks are compared to their competition. But will
their talent override scene kid obsessions Black Veil Brides or Asking
Alexandria?
Well, "Run Free" actually shows some growth from
Asking Alexandria. But here's to hoping In This Moment wins over them.
I'm obviously all for girl power.

Wow... this is a shit category. I'm gonna have to give it to the hilarious / super talented Dethklok with I EJACULATE FIRE. Because a mummy ejaculating fire on everything and everyone is the most metal thing I've ever seen. And if you aren'ts metal, you ams dildos.
