NEW MUSIC TUESDAY - JUNE 25TH

The kings of viking metal are back today with their newest offering of their signature brand of mighty metal. Amon Amarth is returning today with their newest album titled “Deceiver of the Gods.” The band is rolling with primarily the same style with a little more focus on the thrashy, classic metal sounds. The album is due out on Metalblade Records so that means no spotify. :( But you can stream the entire record here! Pick this one up. It's fantastic.

August Burns Red are back with their brand of melodic metalcore. To me, this band has always leaned more to the hardcore / trendy side of the metalcore world. They are one of the exceptions of this type of band to me, being that I actually enjoy them. They’ve been growing more experimental as songwriters. From the single I’ve heard so far, titled "Fault Line", this album is a little too positive and preachy for me. So I’m gonna have to ignore the lyrics because the music is awesome. Check it out today!

Palms self titled debut album is due out today. This thing has been available for streaming for a while and I’ve been enjoying it a lot. The combination of former Isis members and Chino Moreno has created an incredibly atmospheric and soothing piece of music. This six songs are absolutely fantastic. Fans of “Oceanic” era Isis and Moreno’s softest vocals will be most attracted to Palms but these guys have definitely made an album that is greater than the sum of its parts. The band’s first offering is available today via Ipecac recordings. Pick it up.

PALMS (ISIS / DEFTONES) DEBUT ALBUM STREAM

Palm’s debut, self-titled album is due out next Tuesday, June 25th. Right now the whole thing is available for streaming over at Spin.com. So if you’re unsure about picking this one up or just can’t wait one more week, head over and start listening to this one right away.

Palms is the brainchild of former Isis players Aaron Harris, Jeff Caxide, and Clifford Meyer. These guys decided they wanted to continue writing together after the demise of Isis. These 6 songs are the result of that desire. Deftones singer Chino Moreno was subsequently recruited to add his signature angelic, atmospheric vocals over the top of what was already laid down.

Fans of “Oceanic” era Isis and Moreno’s softest vocals will be most attracted to Palms but these guys have definitely made an album that is greater than the sum of its parts. The band’s first offering will be released via Ipecac recordings and is available for pre-order if you’re ready to pull the trigger on this one. Also, the artwork is killer.

PALMS SELF-TITLED ALBUM PREVIEW

Palms, a band featuring three former members of the legendary Isis and the man Chino Moreno of Deftones, are gearing up to release their debut self-titled full-length. Talk about pedigrees. So far they've released a single "Patagonia" and now a brand new album preview with snippets of every track! It's sounding like this album is bound to be a great one, pleasing to fans of both Deftones, Isis, and beyond. Gotta say the artwork is incredible too.

The wait for this record isn't a bad one either. "Palms" will be released upon the masses June 25th via Ipecac Recordings. Pre-orders are now live so go ahead and grab yours here if you dig.

PALMS RELEASE FIRST SINGLE (FEATURING MEMBERS OF DEFTONES / ISIS)

Palms, a band featuring three members of legendary Isis and Chino Moreno of Deftones, released the first single, titled "Patagonia", off of their new self titled album due out June 25th. The tune is quite relaxing and Chino’s vocals here provide the perfect palatable human aspect, lacking in instrumental music, to latch onto. His soothing voice, atop atmospheric guitar layered in delay and smooth bass lines, creates some of the most relaxing sounds I’ve heard in recently. Though never a huge fan of Deftones, this song reminds me most of the atmosphere and mood invoked by "Cherry Waves", sans the heavy bridge, which is my favorite track they’ve ever put out. It’s safe to say this slice of the album has gotten me pretty excited.
