FREE MUSIC MONDAY - CONSTRUCTING INFINITY

Rising from what was Water's Edge, Constructing Infinity is a solo project powered by guitarist Alex Quaglieri. Having just officially launched this month, he's already making remarkable progress with two impressive demo tracks, "The Limerent Object" and "Reaching Forward". Stylistically, both tracks are very reminiscent of the Instrumental Prog Metal sound Water's Edge brought, but with some twists of their own. Great music. And rumor has it there's plenty more where that came from. Stay tuned!

The two demo tracks have been made available for FREE download! You can sample them below and grab both on Bandcamp. Enjoy!

WATER'S EDGE FINAL SHOW CANCELED

Well this is a bummer... So many great bands losing members and breaking up of late. It appears our friends in Water's Edge are the next on that list.

They were planning to play their final show with Ever Forthright tomorrow, but it turns out their involvement in the gig has unfortunately been canceled due to drama. You can read the bands official statement below for the info. Really a shame that it had to end this way...
________________

Hello to all fans of Water’s Edge. We have an official statement to release regarding everything that has happened in the past day or so. Yesterday, upon cancelling Water’s Edge’s final performance scheduled to be held on Saturday, myself, Alex, and Trey received very heated messages from local promoters and other band members within the Rhode Island metal scene that more or less verbally attacked us with various claims. Initially, Alex, Trey, and I responded in the way which we did because we were confused as to why such claims against us were being made and where people were deriving their information from that was used in these attacks, as myself, Alex, and Trey have never publicly or outwardly disrespected another person or group associated with the local scene. Simply, we were confused why people were so angry with us, which in turn made us angry. However, last night, we learned some information about the actions of our former band mate, Max Couto.

We have learned Max was speaking to people in the local metal scene in an extremely disrespectful manner; disrespecting others in the scene, local promoters, using unnecessary language, high levels of unmerited anger, and otherwise distasteful conversation with people in this scene who previously have stated nothing against Max to incite such a reaction. Everything that occurred yesterday, every claim and attack made against us confused us because we did not know where they were coming from, but we now know that they were coming from things that Max did and said to people of this scene. This all occurred behind our backs, as Max never told us anything that he did or said, and the rest of us acted blindly until it became known to us exactly what Max did. Max acted extremely inappropriately to people involved with music, which is supposed to be a community effort based on fun and passion, not anger and hate. We struggled with what to do in regards to this situation, and came close to deleting the Water’s Edge page and all our material out of shame, embarrassment, and whatever public reaction might be pitched against us. However, we are issuing this statement to make it perfectly clear to all of the amazing fans of Water’s Edge that Max acted alone in these actions, and therefore we feel it best to keep the music that we created up for everyone to enjoy regardless of what one of our members did. Myself, Alex, and Trey have nothing but love for each other, for the music of ours and of others, and for each and every one of you who made this band so special. While we may have some disagreements about the local scene, we have never and would never speak in the manner that Max spoke, both because that is not the way to treat other people and because that is simply not the way we are as individuals.

At this time, we would like to apologize for Max’s behavior to any band, promotional company, or anyone affiliated in the local scene that Max offended or possibly has offended, as we still don’t know the full extent of his past actions. We would like to let everyone know that we strongly condemn Max’s actions and attitude, and that the rest of Water’s Edge does not condone such unbridled negativity. While we are no longer an acting band, our music and pages will still be maintained for your listening pleasure. Myself, Alex, and Trey are all about making music and sharing it with everyone. We have nothing but deep respect for everyone involved in any way, shape, or form of any aspect of music. You will absolutely hear more music from Alex, Trey, and I in the future, and we have nothing but the sincerest gratitude for any support we have ever received. Because of you, we are able to carry on in our own endeavors. It has been an amazing journey and for that we are eternally grateful.

From Alex, Adam, and Trey, we thank everyone for your undying support, dedication, and love.

WATER'S EDGE "AN ABSTRACT COLLAPSE" ALBUM REVIEW

Today we present a great album from a band that most of you probably haven't heard of... yet (Unless you follow The Circle Pit \m/). Coming from Rhode Island, Water's Edge are an impressive instrumental Progressive Metal unit writing huge music. These guys have a very melodic, musical, and yet experimental approach to how they craft their songs. And it yields several immense and inspiring segments. Consisting of guitarists Alex Quaglieri and Adam Fague with drummer Max Couto, and bassist Trey Friend, there is a lot of talent in this band. And I can easily see them evolving further musically as their career's progress. Their brand new album "An Abstract Collapse" is evidence of this.

Every song on this record has a good bit of greatness in it, but a few especially stand out to me. The first time I heard "So You Don't Forget" as a single, I immediately became a fan of Water's Edge. Hearing the awesome guitar solo from Elitist's Julain Rodriguez over the creative force is really a treat. Great song. It opens up the album like a boss as a stand out track. Another favorite of mine is "The Coriolis Effect". I especially love the way this track opens. There is an underlying groove throughout most of the song, driving it along well. There are several awesome, out of the box moments to feast your ears on, especially during the second half of the track. "The Obelisk" features some crazy scat vocals from guitarist Adam Fague. It was unexpected, but really cool to listen to. It also features a great guest solo from Max Gorelick. This is a strange track, but it's written and preformed so damn well. "Spidernomics".... wow. I'm arachnophobic but I dig this song so much. Certainly one of the faster tracks on the record, it really showcases the band's talent level with quick riffing/grooving. "Birds In Space" is easily one of the best if not the best song on "An Abstract Collapse". It's a 10 minute ride across the universe and back again featuring a guitar solo from the talented Alex Campbell. The song touches on a variety of musical themes seamlessly as it progresses. "One Realm" ends the album soooo damn well. Just listen and you'll see what I mean.

My criticisms are few in number. A couple segments of the record feel as if they could have been tightened up within the composition. This only means the band has more room for musical growth. Also the production was generally good, but it could have been better. These songs would sound twice as huge with better production. That would be GIGANTIC AS FUCK!

To sums things up, "An Abstract Collapse" has The Circle Pit's seal of approval. This is a great album from start to finish. It's recommend to prog-heads and all your prog-head friends. I'm really looking forward to see what this band does in the future. Their instrumental sound is awesome, but it also seems they would mesh well with a singer if they found the right guy. Either way... listen and profit!

You can listen to "Abstract Collapse" in it's entirety right here, right now! Stream that! And if you like how your ears feel, buy the whole record for only $5 here!

NEW TRACK FROM WATER'S EDGE

Impression of this song...... holy shit. I became a fan on my first listen. Big things are coming from the smallest state in America. I really like the sense of melody that Water's Edge displays and how it gels together with the heavier elements. "So You Don't Forget" is a great track from beginning to end. Julian Rodriguez of Elitist also contributes some goodness to the song. There's really a lot of potential in this group and we'll definitely keep an eye on them. You should too. Don't forget to give "So You Don't Forget" a listen below.
